The Art Of Guitar-In Depth Study (Entry#8 THE FINALE)

Yes indeed! After four months of my In Depth Study, I have finally reached the “home stretch” stage. If you haven’t been following me this whole time, you can still read my archive posts where you can probably learn a thing or two of what I have acquired. As well, you can even get inspired by my journey of this self-directed learning. First off, this week I decided to do a little research on the history of the guitar.

The guitar, an ancient and noble instrument has a very long history which can be traced back for over 4000 years.  It has often been claimed that the guitar is a development of the lute or even of the ancient Greek kithara. These instruments are deprived from ones that existed in ancient central Asia and India. The modern word “ guitarhas been applied to a wide variety of cordophones since the ancient times. Besides, the English “guitar”, the German “gitarre”, and the French “guitare” were all adopted from the Spanish “guitarra”. “Tar” means string in Persian.

The Lute

It was not until 1950 when Les Paul was credited for the invention of the first electric guitar with a solid body. The stringed instrument manufacturer, Fender released the solid-body electric guitar called the Fender Esquire, which was actually quite successful. After that, it went on to become an integral part of numerous music styles and the rest is history.

Again, if you haven’t seen them already, there are some tutorial videos available on my YouTube Channel. In the coming days, I will be releasing more songs in which I have learned.

So… how will I be presenting my project and demonstrating all I’ve learned at the Celebration Night?  Foremost, my station will have a video presentation of my instructional videos and some of the songs that I have learned throughout my In Depth Study. In order to teach others my “expertise”, I will be bringing along my electric guitar and show them some basic techniques. Everyone will be encouraged to try out my guitar as I’d like to share my musical talents thus far. As for an on-stage performance, I’d like to fully finish learning my special selection first but if last resort, I may just play a segment of the piece. For now, I will not mention which song I will play.

This In Depth Project has given me an opportunity to learn something that I always cherished to learn. I have truly discovered the art of guitar playing and basked the experience of learning it. I believe my journey has not been completed yet. Although, it has been a wild four months of learning and overcoming many obstacles, I have treasured all the moments of my exploration. In the coming future, I will pursue to master this art by taking more lessons from possibly Tom Lee Music or Long & McQuade. As for now, the night of the in-depth will be a highly anticipated one!
